02 / Direction
Keep the atmosphere. Repair the world beneath it.
The selected early proof already had the right surface: dense diagonal strokes, muted blue and ochre vibration, architecture dissolving into air, and one large reflection. Its building was crude. The final branch preserves that surface language while replacing the block geometry with observed Saint Peter's structure and a continuous sky.
Saint Peter's Basilica after rain. Monumental from a distance; alive with broken warm and cool color at close range. Let stone, sky, and reflected light meet without hard seams.
03 / Painter
IMPRESSIONIST V1.3The tool learned to lose an edge.
The rebuilt painter adds curved multi-bristle paths, palette-constrained sampled color, form-oriented strokes, distance-scaled marks, irregular masks, selective edge loss, nonuniform optical passes, wet-reflection distortion, scumble, glaze, and impasto. Architectural geometry comes from a reframed CC0 photograph; the final pixels are repainted by the local mark engine rather than passed through an image-generation model.
04 / Collaboration
03 MODEL JURORSCritique changed the canvas.
Luna, Inkling, and Qwen 3.8 Max reviewed the rendered painting. Their shared revision order was concrete: restore a central value hierarchy, break the uniform reflection, ground the waterline, add selective dark stone anchors, and dissolve the two margins. Those changes became the final 8K source. Five earlier vector-geometry branches remained rejected; increasing their density only made the wrong geometry more permanent.
Ox Alpha returned a provider 429 during the direction round. DeepSeek V4 Flash did not complete in time. Neither is attributed to the final painting.
05 / Replay
MARK 1 → 325,000The finished image keeps its making.
The GIF is captured from inside the final drawing loop. It begins on the empty prepared canvas, holds for eight frames, then shows visible marks 1, 12, 52, 122, and increasingly wider checkpoints through mark 325,000. The progressive curve preserves the beginning instead of jumping over the underpainting: 119 cumulative painted states plus the empty canvas show sky, stone, architecture, reflections, glints, anchors, and the central light arriving in order.

HONEST LEDGERWhat this is—and is not.
The 325,000 total counts individual visible Canvas2D bristle marks, not 325,000 human wrist movements. Saint Peter's geometry is derived from a disclosed CC0 photograph, then reframed, recolored, reflected, sampled, and fully repainted. The GIF is a 960 × 540 replay; its held final frame is an exact downsample of the approved 8K master. The downloadable template omits the embedded raster bytes, while the manifest, replay ledger, and 8K crop audit preserve the reproducible record.
